Trailblazer is an extension for the Mozilla Firefox browser,
developed by SIRG, which semantically enriches a user's experience
without altering the content of the web-page. It allows the user
to add extra information, such as bookmarks and additional notes
regarding specific items on the web-page. These can be used to provide
clarification and understanding of the content on the page. Trailblazer
derives the context of the currently viewed information and applies
the relevant links.
In order for Trailblazer to be able to categorise text on a web page and to apply the relevant additional information, Trailblazer needs to be trained by a user. They can add a new category and teach Trailblazer about it by showing it a number of web-pages describing this domain. Trailblazer will extract information from the web-page and associate it with the given category. The trails created can be outputted in the machine readable language RDF and shared. This facilitates the distribution of discovered information through the sharing of trails in order to support community based knowledge.
