The
HPTC engineering team designs, delivers and support products
which are targeted at the scientific research and engineering
markets. The team was responsible for developing the AlphaServer
SC family of products which has generated in excess of $400m,
and has positioned HP at the high end of the supercomputing
market. AlphaServer SC installations rank amongst the top
10 most powerful computers on the planet.
The team is now focused on developing a family of high performance
fileservers, which are aimed at meeting the phenomenal data
requirements of the scientific market. These fileservers
are built using innovative object-based file system technology,
and will be introduced to the general HPTC market in the
second half of 2004. The team have been working with early
adopter customers for over a year, and is already supporting
a major installation at Pacific Northwestern National Laboratory.
Apart from engineering HPTC systems, the team also works
directly with developers of scientific applications for specific
markets. Our affinity with these developers is strengthened
by the fact that a number of the team have academic and professional
backgrounds that reflect these markets - including meteorology,
computational fluid dynamics and bioinformatics.
